Does your door glass have a warranty?
Warranty periods for our door glass products are as follows:

Will door glass break?
Yes! Just like a window, door glass can break if it is misused.
Breakthrough-resistant glass is just that: It is resistant to break-through, or
potential break-in. Breakthrough-resistant does not mean that it's unbreakable.
The outer laminated glass is 180% more break resistant than standard glass,
which means it is harder to break with a ball or by banging a ladder into it.
Also, it may take an intruder repeated blows to break through the laminated
glass, which may deter them from breaking into your home. If the break-resistant
glass does break, it holds together much like a car windshield does when it
shatters, which helps prevent injury. Note: The inner pane is standard tempered
glass, so if you are showing your friends the strength of this glass, do it on
the outside of the door!

What should I consider when buying door glass?
When purchasing door glass, the frame is one very important consideration.
Frames should be made of a maintenance-free material that will not yellow or
deteriorate from exposure to the sun. The frame should also be able to withstand
the heat that builds up between a storm door and a steel door. Even when the
temperature outside is only 80 degrees, the airspace between a storm door and a
steel door can reach a temperature of 180 degrees.
In addition to the durability of the frame, the door glass' appearance is
another thing to consider. Will it match or complement your home, giving it an
appropriate accent? The front door is the focal point of the home, but remember
to consider the appearance of the other entrances as well. Will your choice
complement the other architectural accents of your home?
When you're looking at leaded glass, look for smooth solder joints that
indicate quality workmanship. Also make sure the joints aren't overbearing to
the design.

Can I replace my clear door glass with decorative door glass?
Yes, clear door glass can be replaced by decorative door glass very easily.

Can I put a storm
door in front of my door glass?
If your existing door has a door glass with an High Performance frame, you can
safely install a storm door over your existing door. If you install a storm door
over a door whose door glass does not have an High Performance or Solar shield frame, you will void the
door glass' warranty. Be sure the door glass will be able
to withstand the heat generated by a storm door (see above, What should I
consider when buying door glass?

Can I paint the frame around my door glass? Any restrictions?
Standard frames must be painted (both inside and out) within 45 days of
installation to maintain the warranty. Standard frames should be painted a light
color, because a dark paint color will attract more heat, which may damage the
seal.
High Performance frames, Maintenance Free frames, and Solar Shield products
can be painted any color. They can also be left unpainted, as they will not
discolor with exposure to the sun.

Is the glass insulated? What is the
R-value?
In some southern markets we sell 1/8" non-insulated glass ( R=.90
U=1.11), otherwise all product is insulated as follows:
-
1/2" clear (R=1.75 U=.57)
-
1" clear ( R=2.00,U=.50)
-
1" low-e ( R=3.00 U=.35)
-
1" Internal Blinds ( R=2.00 U=.50)
-
1" decorative (R=2.78, U=.36)
Note: Some door products are rated with labels of up to R=15. It is important
to note that only a door without glass holds this rating, and that if you insert
decorative door glass, the rating decreases to to a calculated average determined
by the area of the door then represented by glass. The R-values of door glass are
similar to the values of standard windows.

What are the tiny marks in the decorative glass? Is this a defect?
Decorative glass is assembled by hand, so each unit is unique. While we try to
standardize these units as much as possible, it is important to note that slight
bubbles, lines, and surface imperfections are all characteristics of hand-made
glass. These are not to be considered as defects. Glass such as renaissance or
baroque, for instance, are manufactured by turning liquid glass into a solid
sheet and retaining a swirled pattern within the glass. As this is done, small
air bubbles are trapped in the glass as it solidifies. This is natural and you
will see this random pattern within all our units.
